What are porcelain veneers?
Porcelain veneers are custom shells of porcelain that are handmade for front teeth only. They are placed on the front of your teeth in order to change their color, shape, position and size. They reflect light much like natural teeth do, they are stain resistant, and they are a wonderful option for people who want a straighter, brighter smile free of irregularities.

What problems do porcelain veneers correct?
Veneers are used to correct many different problems including correcting gaps, chipped or cracked teeth, worn teeth, and discolored teeth. Porcelain veneers provide a cosmetic dentistry option that can be used to give you a smile that you have always wanted in just two visits.

How are they made?
Dr. Dodson will take an impression of your teeth, and that mold will be sent to a lab where your veneers will be made. In order for the porcelain veneers to look good and fit well in your mouth, a small amount of enamel must be removed, and your gums may need to be reshaped so that there is a perfect match between the shape of your gums and the shape of your new porcelain veneers. Dr. Dodson will give you temporary veneers until the custom made porcelain veneers arrive from the lab. Your new veneers will be laser-bonded to your teeth so that you can have the natural-looking smile you have always wanted. After the veneers are placed, they may be sensitive for a few days, but in no time, they will feel just like your natural teeth.

What are the advantages of porcelain veneers?
Porcelain veneers provide better results than the minor reparations tooth bonding provides, and veneers do not require the amount of time or commitment that braces do. They are stain resistant and the color of the porcelain can be selected so that darker teeth will appear whiter. Gum tissues react well to porcelain veneers.

How long do they last?
If taken care of properly, porcelain veneers can last between five and ten years. Clenching or grinding your teeth puts excessive pressure on the veneers and can chip or crack them. Dark foods, red wine and coffee should be consumed in moderation after the placement of porcelain veneers.

How much do porcelain veneers cost?
They are typically not expensive because they are a fairly simple procedure that only takes two visits. Adams Dental Center offers flexible financing options to ensure that your smile is not only beautiful but affordable, also.
