At Adams Dental Care, we can whiten your teeth in our office or we can provide you with an at-home kit for you to use. For more severe staining, Dr. Dodson may discuss porcelain veneers, porcelain crowns and dental bonding with you.
Can't I just use over-the-counter whitening kits?
They are much less effective and don't provide a natural-looking result. Kits that use a dental tray can also cause chafing and pain, as the trays are not custom-made to fit your mouth.
How long does in-office whitening take?
The teeth whitening procedure may take place over one or two visits depending on how badly stained your teeth are and how bright you want the final result to be.
How long will the effects of whitening last?
Again, this depends on individual factors including whether or not you smoke, if you drink red wine, drink coffee, and eat staining foods.
Is teeth whitening something I need to have done over and over?
Many of our patients choose to have their teeth whitened on a regular basis to maintain the desired whiteness. Some patients come to Adams Dental Center every six months or so to have their teeth whitened.
What is the in-office teeth whitening procedure like?
If you choose in-office bleaching, Dr. Dodson will apply a gel or even a rubber guard to protect the soft tissues of your mouth. Then a strong agent will be applied to your teeth to bleach the enamel of your teeth. Finally, a light or laser is applied to stimulate the bleaching agent. Multiple visits may be required for this procedure, and Dr. Dodson will explain that to you once he evaluates your needs. The time needed for each visit will vary, also.
How much does teeth whitening cost?
The cost of teeth whitening varies with each patient's individual needs, but Dr. Dodson will discuss this with you at the time of your initial consultation.
